Week 1

We are the group 41 which is doing the hardware project RE200b, it is a infrared sensor, the information blow is the work we have done in the first week.

The subject of this project is to study the function of the infrared sensors, RE200b with a situation which is to monitor the elder people when they fall down so that it can protect the safety of the elder people. When the sensor get the signal input, it will output a signal and the signal will run through a circuit to amplify the signal and display the signal by using a LED or a buzzer.

Firstly, we have searched an example circuit on the internet which is showed in the figure 1. We will design the application circuit base on this example circuit.

Next, we check the components that we have ordered and get a familiar with these components. However, we found that one kind of amplifier which is named 2N3904 is missed, and we ordered this kind of component on the internet so that we can use it this week.

Finally, we tried to build the circuit which we will use and simulate this system on the PSpice at the afternoon. During the simulation, the value of two variables resistors could not be adjust to the expected value in PSpice, so we need the future study and research.

In summary, the beginning of the project is prosperous in generally, there are not many problems happened and needed to be solved. We plan to finish the simulation and try to build the circuit on the breadboard in the first week, but we do not achieve our goals because of the unexpected values of the resistors. In addition, some troubles may appear in the next several weeks, but we will try to solve them by ourselves at first, also we may ask for the advice from the tutor. No matter what will happen, everything will be OK and we believe we can solve these problems step by step and finish the project successfully.
